Shatavari herb is famous for treating problems related to the female reproductive system. Botanical name of shatavari is Asparagus racemosus (A. racemosus) belongs to the family Liliaceae and commonly known as Satawar, Satamuli, Satavari found at low altitudes throughout India also in Sri Lanka. The dried roots of the plant are used as a drug. The Shatavari roots are said to be tonic, diuretic, and galactagogue (increases the flow of a mother’s milk), the drug has ulcer healing effects probably via strengthening the mucosal resistance or cytoprotection.

It is said to be a very helpful herb for females, as it aids in conceiving, helps for ovulation, maintains hormonal balance and helps for breastfeeding after delivery.
